<p>People may be afraid of a wide range of things and what may be perfectly acceptable for one person may be enough panic to the other.</p>
<p>Some of the fears I see most often in my practice are:</p>
<p>Animals<br />Being alone<br />Blood<br />Small or enclosed spaces<br />Dark places<br />Death<br />Heights<br />Injection/needle<br />Open spaces<br />Snakes<br />Spiders<br />Travel<br />Trains<br />Water</p>
<p>Some unusual institutions:</p>
<p>Yellow (colour)<br />Red cars<br />Men with beards<br />Apples</p>
<p>What is a phobia?</p>
<p>A phobia is all fear persistent to a specific object of the stimulus or situation. Phobia is Greek to fear or dread. It is more than a mere fear or being afraid. It is to be totally terrified at the idea of the stimulus. When presented with a problem of phobia by a customer, always start with whether it is a fear that they or a phobia. If their problem is for example, spiders, and then they imagine holding a spider on their hand if they are rewarded by a ?100? What is with ?500 and so on. If they could wear the spider for a large amount of money, even only for a few seconds, they do not have a phobia, but rather fear. The person with a phobia of spiders would not be able to bear to touch one for any amount of money or any other reward. Some people are obsessions with their phobia. This means, that they can?t bears even think that the stimulus and it will likely be fully control their lives.</p>
<p>A further complication is that a client can present with phobia/fear of flying for example. However, the therapist qualified on the exploration of this fear, phobia with the client, may find the fear/phobia is actually be locked, or locked in. It could perhaps phobia/fear of dying, not being able to breathe an aircraft, or something else related to the aircraft or to leave their region/country etc., but not really the theft itself.</p>
<p>What caused the phobia?</p>
<p>A client often say that nothing has caused the phobia, they have, it has begun, they?ve always been afraid of dogs, etc.. If a person is afraid of dogs and other isn?t, then clearly there is a difference between the two. A person has been exposed to a causal event which has been repressed in the subconscious mind, or who has learned to be afraid of a parent or other figure of authority at some point earlier in life. The causal event may not be very traumatic in time, but the young mind is have it seen outside the context that would be understood by a more mature mind a few years later. It may have caused an emotional response or actions motor to be locked, repressed, and emotion possible motor responses will be locked and were anchored to the event. The subconscious mind can often set up a sort of false instinct, according to which any sign of recovery, or even something resembling it, or associate, can cause a phobic reaction, and then the body?s of flight or fight response will kick in and the person may begin to panic?panic attack.</p>
<p>Hypnotherapy for relieving phobias</p>
<p>The first thing we will do the skilled Hypnotherapist, is working with the client to discover the causal and once found, event to desensitize the client thereof. A time has been reached, and hypnotic suggestion, metaphor and possibly the Neuro-Linguistic programming will be used to create a new model for the client, so that they can see the already dreaded situation, object or circumstance under a new and non-threatening angle through a new lens it where. If the causality, or events are not found and the emotion not released, then the phobia can just later reappear with more intensity that before if it is possible. The person with a phobia should be helped to find and examine the situation of trigger, the see with adult maturity and understanding and then see the issue differently and with a different and better understanding. The spirit can be reprogrammed to see things in a different way and to accept as normal situations above, have been regarded as a threat.</p>
<p>How therapy sessions will be necessary?</p>
<p>How many sessions will be necessary to release a person from their phobia will depend on many things, not least, the personality type of clients, maturity, desire to overcome the phobia and of course, how deep seated phobia is and how long it has been in place. However, the average of people I see is about 3-4 sessions. This can be much longer in some cases, especially where full blown panic attacks are produced at random times and in various locations.</p>

This session will be normally last about 45 minutes. My clients say that this short session often produce therapeutic results for them and helps them feel confident on the definition of a series of sessions of therapy to overcome their fear or phobia.</p>
<p>Always consult your physician first before you contact or visit the therapists and tell him everything you may have, as symptoms, headaches, pain in the limbs, races of heart, dizziness, sweating, blurred vision, a sense of unrealness, and etc. While these are all common for a person suffering from fear, phobia, or indeed a panic attack, organic causes should always be fully audited by a professional health in the first instance.</p>
<p>In consultation with a Hypnotherapist, I advise that ensure you that they are a clinical Hypnotherapist and that they belong to a professional organization as one of the following:</p>
<p>British Institute of hypnotherapy<br />General Hypnotherapy register<br />Professional Association for Hypnothérapeutes and psychotherapists<br />Hypnotherapy Association<br />National Council for Hypnotherapy</p>
<p>Check out the activity that the therapist is indeed registered with them. Also check that your chosen therapist has experience in dealing with the problem you have, and that they have adequate professional insurance (they have to display their certificate of insurance at their place of work).</p>
